Going by the name of "peaceforchange" on Twitter, Major Director-General of the Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) of Pakistan Asif Ghafoor shared two pictures on Twitter that sparked a lot of controversies in the past few days.
Ghafoor, being Pakistan army's spokesperson, shared a message to pay condolences to late Balochistan leader Siraj Raisani and tweeted, "Salute to our national hero #SirajRaisani. A truly proud Pakistani who made enemies of Pakistan afraid. Your passion, mission & message shall be carried forward. We owe you, and we shall not let your sacrifice go waste. Welcome to the great family of Martyred sons of Pakistan.
But what caused the controversy was the two pictures attached to the tweet. The two pictures showed Raisani disrespecting the Indian flag, which was shared by Ghafoor.
One of the pictures showed Raisani standing on the Indian flag while the other one showed the late Baloch leader showing off the Indian flag on his shoe.
Raisani was killed during a campaign rally on July 13 in a suicide bombing. He was contesting Pakistan's general elections from Mastung. Raisani was hailed as a brave Pakistani soldier by many.
However, many people including people from Pakistan, disapproved of the tweet saying the spirit as well as the timing was not right. Many users took to social media and said that the intention of the tweet was to pay condolences but ended up being disrespectful.
